How to Find and Delete Duplicate Tracks in iTunes

If you’ve used iTunes for awhile, chances are you’ve got a couple of duplicate tracks in your library. Maybe they’re songs you accidentally downloaded twice, or collateral from when you combined two libraries–either way, they’re annoying and can take up precious space, especially on smaller iPods such as the iPod Shuffle and the iPod Nano.
Luckily, iTunes makes it really easy to find and delete duplicate tracks in your library. Just go to the File menu in iTunes and select “Display Duplicates.” iTunes will display a list of all the tracks in your library that have the same name, and you can just go down the list and delete the duplicates.
Be careful to check the Album and Artist names, though, as not all songs with the same name will be duplicates.
